Meet The Team

The mother of a child with chronic Kidney Injury at Birth life hasn't been easy. The support and information made available with the help of the KPA has been invaluable. Its not always just about the patient, they need a support network, so when I retired from Lecturing and was asked to sit on the board of trustees, I was pleased to get involved.  

CKD patient from Birth, 2 Kidney transplants. I have been a patient under the care of Derriford Kidney Unit for 33 years. A lot has changer over the years, some things for the better and some thing not, the one thing that was a staple over the years was the Kidney Patient Association. After retiring on medical grounds from civil service, Now it's my turn to give something back!

I am the widow of a transplant patient who was under the care of the Renal Unit for 20 years. I joined the KPA as I thought that  if I could help them and the unit that cared for my husband as well, it was a worthwhile thing to do. I can also share my experiences of living with kidney disease from a partners perspective.

I am a retired Area retail manager for a large local Charity. My role involved working with volunteers as well as paid staff to maximize takings and promote the charity. I know how life's circumstances can change fast. I know how serious illness can deprive an individual of their independence, undermining mental health and wellbeing. I understand the difference that care and attention can make to vulnerable people. I am delighted to support the work of the "Friends of Derriford Hospital Renal Unit" Kidney Patient Association.
